Vanessa Vole, a graduate student in Developmental Psychology, was named the inaugural 2015 Stephen C. Rose Legacy Scholar as part of the Active Minds Emergin Scholars Fellowship.

The Emerging Scholars Fellowship is a program dedicated to supporting behavioral health research by graduate and undergraduate scholars. This fellowship provides an opportunity for students to complete funded, independent mental health projects and to be connected with a network of young scholars and national experts in the field of behavioral health. The Stephen C. Rose Legacy Fund honors the legacy of Stephen C. Rose by promoting dialogue about mental health and supporting activities to build understanding and assistance for mental health among young people from their late teens into their early 30s.

Vanessa was named for her research investigating the relationship between specific coping strategies and mental health among African-American men and women attending a primarily white/Anglo college institution.
